Unit 8 Lesson 2: Open to Change

Teaching children to see life as a constant flow — and
not a fixed pattern that defines who we are — may help
transform the uncertainty of each day from something
to be feared into a joyful adventure to be shared.

Additional Activity Idea:

Understanding the cycles of nature can help children (and grownups!) feel more comfortable and familiar with the basic concept of change. Use the attached template to create a seasonal rhythm wheel (based on ideas from the Waldorf educational philosophy). Mount the template onto cardboard or thick paper and use a silver brad to insert a movable arrow to the center. As the weeks pass, make a point of moving the arrow through the seasons. Constant rhythms (even of change!) can help give us a sense of security in midst of the unknown.
