Theme: Sing and Make Music:

The Spiritual,Emotional, and Health Benefits from Making Music and Lifting Our Voices in Song

Music and Lifting Our Voices in Song

Ephesians 5:18b-20 (CEB) Instead, be filled with the Spirit in the following ways: speak to each other with psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs; sing and make music to the Lord in your hearts; always give thanks to God for everything in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Join us for a music-filled service featuring songs and music with KelsiCote, Bill Hollenberg as soloist, Melody and our Band leading us musically through worship; a piano duet by Ruth Ann Bever and Amy Hollenberg, and even Kool and the Gang’s “Celebration” featuring children around the world in a delightful video! KelsiCote will lead our Children’s Time as well – so that will be a meaningful, interactive time for our kids! Come and make music with us as we explore the power of music and singing for worship and for our lives.

Meet And Eat

Join us this Sunday at 9:15am for Breakfast and 9:30am Meet and Eat this Week on Sanctuary Space, Discussion 3
Bring your thinking caps as we gather for the third (and final) Meet and Eat program on sanctuary space. We will meet in the sanctuary to talk about the purpose of our worship space and to explore creative tweaks and arrangements that might make our space more functional and a better reflection of our values. But – what are our most important values for worship? Inclusion of all kinds? Intergenerational worship welcoming children and families? Congregational participation throughout the service? And what do we want our worship to be like – and what do we want it to do?

Come – let’s explore together!

Safe Church Training.

Come join us on August 25th after service for lunch and a Safe Church Training. Learn about our youth and the best way to interact with them. We will provide childcare and the meal .

RSVP to Brenda Galbraith at
260-466-6479
if you are able to attend just so we know how much food to prepare. If you are unable to RSVP at this time and you end up being able to attend, please come. There’s always plenty of food!!

ReFRESH Update

Throughout the summer, efforts to complete Phase 2 of ReFRESH have given us a lovely soft carpet, comfortable chairs for resting or reading, and colorful walls in gathering spaces. Thank you to all who have made this possible. Four projects remain and are expected to be completed within the next month or a bit more.

First, pieces of art will be placed in their official places and bulletin boards will take on new roles.

Second, the Fellowship Hall will have a designated “living area” with a cozy rug, the upcycled chairs from ReSTORE, and an end table or two to complement the table groupings that will remain set up throughout the week.

The remaining two projects include us all in either planning, helping, or patiently awaiting the results.

Within a few days an email will be sent asking you to indicate your preference for the blessing that will be written over the south doorway. These words are intended to inspire us to carry our faith into the world. All suggestions from the congregation were reviewed and several were combined to create the choices.

Option 1: “Go in joy! Live in peace!”

Option 2: “Do justice. Love mercy. Walk humbly with God.”

The final project is the remodeling of the restrooms. All of the orange will disappear from the main floor women’s and men’s restrooms but will remain in the lower level women’s and men’s restrooms. New flooring will be installed. Walls will be freshly painted with a similar color. The vanities will be replaced and we are hoping to reuse the sinks and fixtures. Finally, the orange partitions will be repainted a neutral color. Because of the complexity of the work, likely there will be one Sunday when the main floor restrooms will be under construction. If so, we will inform people ahead of time. Lower level facilities, of course, will remain open every Sunday. Once the main floor restroom renovation is complete, attention will turn to upgrading the Inclusive restroom found on the lower level.

With the coming of fall, a second large stained glass will be installed in the front entry, framing the word “hope”. Welcoming décor will let everyone know they are welcome at Beacon Heights!

Weekly Food Bank Update

Thank you for all your donations! Currently, the most needed items are pancake mix, broth and Dried Rice. Monetary donations are also appreciated.

Shoppers are needed for the new sign up sheet it will be posted in the next few days! The sign-up sheet is located on the office countertop.

Library News

Many ReFRESHing changes have been happening at Beacon Heights, including the church library. Old books and other materials have been weeded out, and the library is no longer housed in the lower level preschool area.

Children’s books and activity bags for use by children during worship can be found near the south entrance. Other children’s books are in the south classroom. Adult books are housed on the bookcase near the north drinking fountain. A few may also be found on the north entryway shelf and on table tops.

These books are for your enjoyment and education. Please feel free to check out as you wish.

The September Picnic has been Postponed to October. More Information to come!
