Theme: Welcome and Worthy
The Holy Spirit can break into our world through our favorite song or during a savored silence. With beautiful promises in poetry and song, we gather to discover the refuge of stillness and rest, surrendering the work (at least for an hour) to God.
Join us to hear our Annual Conference Moderator, Madalyn Metzger, share a message based on the theme she chose for our annual gathering in Grand Rapids, MI on July 3-7. Madalyn writes, "Our call to live and experience our faith together, in community, is what inspired the theme for this year’s Annual Conference, Welcome and Worthy. It is based on Romans 16:1-4, in which Paul tells the Christians in Rome to welcome his sister in Christ, Phoebe, in a way that is worthy of God’s people. This solitary reference to Phoebe can appear inconsequential on the surface. But, to me, it is a reminder that we are committed – individually and voluntarily – to one another. We all share in the spiritual direction of the church and, therefore, each of our unique spiritual gifts are needed so that we can function together as a healthy Body of Christ."
To prepare, please read: Romans 16:1-4.

SISTER SONG CIRCLE
THURSDAY, MAY 30
5:30-7:30pm
WE’D LOVE TO SHARE THIS EVENT WITH YOU
FOR CONNECTION AND SISTERHOOD
Please call 260-482-7402 or email
if you plan to attend!
This is a time to “fill our cups”; to Be together, explore mindfulness practices and weave our voices, kindling our inner Light in a safe, and supportive sisterhood.
You don’t need to be able to read music or have any musical experience at all. Together we’ll explore songs and simple mantras from diverse cultures around the world. You’re also welcome to bring a song close to your heart, or favorite poem to musicalize.
This offering is made possible by three local female-led organizations:
Bridging Worlds, Sophia’s Portico, and Beacon Heights.
The $5 suggested contribution supports them.
We respect all journeys and paths of faith,
value ancient traditions of Women Circles, and honor music and singing as part of the heart medicine so needed in today’s day and age.

Service to Families in Need: Our Beacon Heights fellowship continues to support families transitioning through homelessness at Just Neighbors: Interfaith Homeless Network. We will be providing dinners at the Just Neighbors home a few blocks from Church on June 2, 3, 4. This will be the second of 3 rotations this year. Please be part of the team providing meal items on one of those evenings. Food dishes will be dropped off, in nonreturnable containers, at the IHN administration office 2925 E. State, back door off of Santa Rosa, prior to 5:00 PM each day. Staff can reheat as needed. Currently nine families (24 individuals) are in shelter. Other supplies are always appreciated, such as bathroom tissue, cleaning supplies, diapers, lunch food, and can be dropped off at Church or directly to Just Neighbors-IHN. Summer Picnic Opportunities
Nurture has chosen some casual picnic dates after church through the summer months. If interested, simply bring a picnic lunch and join others after church to eat at nearby Lion's Park (3299 Carew Street address for parking). Lion's Park has a nice playground and picnic tables--only a 2 minute drive from church.
Picnic Dates: June 9, July 14, August 4.
This summer is a great time for us in Northern Indiana to appreciate one of the Church of the Brethren's gifts: Song and Story Fest. This is a week of music, storytelling, hikes, swimming, new friends, old friends (or whatever you like to do at a camp) with really good homemade food. Come for all or part: July 7-13, 2024 Camp Brethren Heights, Rodney, Michigan.
Pastor Anna Lisa is one of the storytellers, along with hot shots like Susan Boyer and Jonathan Hunter - who will knock your socks off! Plus fantastic musicians like Chris Good (married to Heidi Beck, who grew up at Beacon Heights) and Greg & Rhonda Baker (Rhonda grew up at Beacon Heights).
