Theme: Rewarded Righteous
“Blessed are the persecuted!” Jesus preaches - and then later: “Whoever gives even a cup of cold water to one of these little ones in the name of a disciple -- truly I tell you, none of these will lose their reward.” Most of us probably aren’t here for a heavenly reward, we’re here because it’s meaningful to us to be part of a faith community that serves and cares inward and outward. We can count on Jesus to be provocative and paradoxical. Let’s explore reward today.
Please read Matthew 10: 40-42 to prepare.

Dear Friends & Family of the Beacon Heights Community,
I am sad to share with you that I am resigning from Beacon Heights Church effective August 31, 2023. I have accepted a full-time position with Merry Lea Environmental Learning Center. In addition, I ask for your patience, as my office schedule will likely flex a bit over the next two months. Moving forward, each week’s office hours will be shared in the Beacon and listed in the Breeze calendar, to help keep things clear.
I am entirely grateful for the time I have spent here as Beacon Heights’ Office Manager, and grateful for your friendship. My experience here has been very rewarding. I appreciate the ways the members of this community extend care and love to each other, to our neighbors, and to those in need in the wider world.
Blessings,
Melinda Long
Meet & Eat this week:
Our Meet & Eat time this week will be fun and relaxed as we play table games and put stickers on the water bottles that were donated for Pride Fest. Join us for something yummy to eat, a beverage of your choice, and fellowship time before worship!
From the Church of the Brethren Annual Conference planners:
Annual Conference worship services can be viewed online at www.brethren.org/ac2023/webcasts live or later via the recording. Services start Tuesday evening, July 4 at 6:45 Eastern Time. A livestream of the worship services, as well as recordings, will also be available in Spanish. There is no fee to watch the worship services although donations are appreciated.

LADIES’ BIRTHDAY LUNCHEON, JUly 12, 12:30 P.M.
It is time to gather again and celebrate the birthdays of the month. All are welcome!
Where: Lakeside Park and Rose Garden
Bring: Your lunch and your chair
Meet: Under the trees off Vermont Street north of the sunken garden area.
Weather: Hope for a beautiful day (hopefully we’ll have better weather than last month!), but if a rainy, cold day, meet at church.
No RSVP needed! Come join the fellowship and help plan for the months ahead.
Beacon Heights Preschool
Beacon Heights Preschool is seeking to hire an Assistant Teacher (part-time)! The Teacher Assistant supports the Teachers and the Director by helping to create a caring and safe environment for the children and assisting in activities to improve the overall care and quality of education.
Next Sunday: July 2, 2023
Theme: Weaving in the loose ends as we go (based on Annual Conference’s BMC worship)
To be at loose ends:
after finishing school, without a sense of purpose for what to do next
when you’re an empty-nester and your weekends are suddenly free of band concerts and soccer games
after your partner dies or a significant relationship ends
adapting to a limiting illness or injury, when previously meaningful activities no longer possible
How does our faith and community hold us through all these seasons, and how are we holding others?
Please read 1 Samuel 18:1-4 and Ecclesiastes 4:9-12 to prepare.
