Theme: Jesus loves the little children

As we welcome Pastor Paula our hearts and minds are naturally wide open! With the wisdom of children, we are curious and eager to receive her. We read in 1 Peter, “Like newborn infants, long for the pure, spiritual milk, so that by it you may grow into salvation-if indeed you have tasted that the Lord is good.” Beacon Heights seeks to be a community that experiences the sweetness of God among us.

In preparation for worship, please read 1 Peter 2:2-10 and Mark 10:13-16.

Pre-Annual Conference Meeting at Camp Mack

All people interested in the Church of the Brethren Annual Conference should plan to attend the meeting with Moderator Tim McElwee on May 21 at 2 p.m. at Camp Mack.

All church people in the District are invited to attend this meeting in order to learn about our church's following Jesus and to raise questions; it is especially important for each congregation's delegate(s) to attend the Conference and to begin talking with your congregations about business issues that will be discussed this summer.

You may participate in person at Camp Mack or on Zoom. Tim McElwee will introduce the video dramatizing the forthcoming highlights at Cincinnati, July 4-8, and then be available to receive your questions and comments. Please plan to attend and encourage others in your congregation to attend with you!

Peace Grannies & Grampies at South Side High School

WANE-15 recently shared an interesting story about a group of retirees called the Peace Grannies & Grampies who visit South Side High School as part of the Peacemaker Program created at the school by Alive Community Outreach, where Rev. Angelo Mante (who visited Beacon Heights on Sunday, March 19) is the executive director. According to their website, “Peacemaker Academy is a nonviolent leadership development program for rising sophomores, juniors and seniors at South Side High School.” They are excited to be opening up additional spots for each of the other Fort Wayne Community high schools this year!

Theme: Nurturing One Another

We always think about what we can do for everyone else. “Service” is our middle name. But sometimes we, too, need some “TLC” -- “Tender Loving Care.” We will look at John 14:15-21 in which Jesus prepares the disciples for his absence but promises not to leave them orphaned. He tenderly cares about them, nurturing and encouraging them. This scripture reminds us that – in our complex lives, exhaustion, and troubles -- we also are not orphaned. We have one another and even more importantly, we have Jesus who walks beside us and lives within us.
